Here at Five Lazy Heart Boer Goats we feel that a Show Quality Meat Goat should also have the Meat to Show for it and not just be another pretty animal that is basically to fat to tell if it has meat or not. You will see in the attached photos that all our Five Lazy Heart Boer Goats are featured in good working condition and still have an abundance of recognizable meat; our Goats are Working Goats First and Show Goats Later. I would like to emphasize first that we breed for Quality and Quantity of Meat on each animal, We Keep the Best and Eat the Rest - Meat Quality and Quantity on animals that will Show. We also have recently instigated a very strict program designed to cull very deeply for Teat Structure and Soundness of Feet Legs and Body Structure.
We have a very small place and basically feed year around, however, we have found out, through trial and error that we do not have to feed expensive grains as long as we use very high quality hay and this has dramatically cut the overhead in our system. We only use a creep feed for a few months on the New Kids just mostly to acquaint them with manufactured feeds; that way they don't get shoved out later on when we worm as we use the pellet Manna Pro de-wormer three or four times a year and they need to know what it is.

We also vaccinate all our kids for sore mouth, (even though we have never had a case of it), we also vaccinate yearly along with required boosters for CDT; however, we have started using the new vaccine from Colorado Serum, Caseous D-T, which does all the work of CDT, but, also protects against Caseous Lymphadenitis, which we also are lucky to not have had as our vet says it is in the soil most everywhere in the United States. You will find the genetics of these Boer Goats listed on the Home Page all these great herd sires can be found throughout the pedigrees of the Five Lazy Heart Stock.
Every Fullblood goat here at the Five Lazy Heart are from Full South African genetics, except, of course our percentage does that derived from other breeds mostly Nubian. Our fullblood hers is Full Blood South African as they, and, all full blood Boer Goats, originated from South African breeding stock.

As we here at the Five Lazy Heart advertise, in all our ads, we strive to bring in the best, the newest, and the top genetics that are available in the world to our area here in wonderful Wyoming.
We searched long and hard to find a suitable replacement for our good, proven, stud buck SEE 5B400, as our main herdsire, and, we didn't just find a good replacement, we found
a great replacement, in AMANI ORBISON from the NUSAA STUD in Coalville Utah.
Tom & Carrie Boyer explained to me on the phone & in e-mails just how really a great and massive stud buck AMANI ORBISON was; but, I tell you what folks, until I got my hands on him, and looked him over, I did not realize the true massiveness of muscle and size this great buck possessed throughout his entire body; This guy is a powerhouse from the tips of his toes through the end of his nose & back to his tail. He is as long as a freight train and his mass and bulk are nearly unexplainable. Folks this great stud has as wide a back, front end and rear end as you can put on a goat and this massiveness carries through to his forearm and into the long deep bulky twist of the muscles in his back legs. He stands square on all four corners and is up on his pasterns. ORBISON, is as good a buck, as you will find, anywhere in the world, and, he is right here in Wyoming.
ORBISON was part of the initial stud battery that was imported to the United Staes through a partnership agreement with Tom & Carrie Boyer of Chalk Creek Boer Goats in Coalville Utah and the AMANI and TERRAWEENA STUDS that formed the NUSAA partnership here in the United States. All the animals in this import were selected by Geof and Celia Burnett-Smith, in conjunction with Dirk Louw and Willie Coetzee. All the animals were selected specifically to represent leading bloodlines from the individual studs, for breeding performance and for their overall quality. The stock was moved to a quarantine facility in Melbourne before they were shipped to the United States, and now, we, here at the Five Lazy Heart have graciously been given the privelege and the pleasure of adding this wonderful Stud Buck to our herd.
